CANELAND Central has jumped through a huge hurdle on its way to its multi-million dollar redevelopment.
Lendlease, the owner of Caneland, has secured its approval from the Mackay Regional Council for the extension to the shopping centre which will include a cinema, with five theatres and one Vmax theatre.
According to the plans that the council approved, there will be a further seven restaurants and undercover parking.
But now Lendlease has its development approval it still has to chase investment to ensure the development is a sound business decision.
"The development application for the leisure and entertainment expansion of Caneland Central has been approved by Mackay Regional Council and Lendlease is working to achieve the required investment approvals that need to be met before development can proceed," Caneland Central Centre Manager Simon De Barro said.

The new artists impression of the expansion has two visible restaurant names at the north east corner.
One is called Le Vineyard and the other is Trovado but a quick Google search does not come back with any restaurants under these names in Australia.
The Vmax cinema
Event Cinemas' Vmax theatres feature stadium seating with giant state-of-the-art digital screens showing the latest Hollywood blockbusters.
The seats have been exclusively designed to provide additional comfort through contoured high backs, tables and double the amount of leg room.
