A luxury car caught fire outside a Brisbane church this morning with traffic slowing as firefighters fought the blaze.

Witnesses say the occupant of the Audi was uninjured after making a swift exit from the car as it caught fire on Kenmore Rd at Kenmore.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said one crew was able to quickly bring the blaze under control on the road outside Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church.

They were first called to the scene about 11.30am.

It’s understood patrons of a nearby Mother’s Day morning tea were drawn outside by an electrical smell.

A witness posted to social media that the driver of the car was inside when it burst into flames.

They said the driver “seemed OK” but the car was “completely gone”.

“There was nothing they could do to save the car,” they said.
