Brisbane’s Legacy Way tunnel fully reopened to traffic just after 6pm after earlier lane closures caused traffic chaos.
Earlier lane closures were causing traffic chaos for peak hour commuters trying to head southwest out of the city, with queues stretching back for kilometres on multiple roads.
The tunnel was reported closed about 3pm.
Traffic was banked up along the westbound lanes of the Inner City Bypass, to Bowen Hills, and along Milton Road from Paten Street to Mt Coot-tha Road.
Coronation Drive in Toowong was also affected.
One eastbound lane was also reopened, about 5.15pm.
Motorists were told to avoid the area and seek an alternative route, but anyone trying to head south on the Pacific Motorway was met with more delays following a crash at Woolloongabba that caused queues all the way back to Milton.
