A much-loved member of the Sunshine Coast yoga community has died due to complications associated with childbirth.

Lauren Verona, who founded Zenko Yoga on the Sunshine Coast and became a revolutionary for yoga, died after giving birth her healthy baby girl.

An online statement posted by Lauren’s team said the loss was “unfathomable,” while tragically Lauren herself had only posted days ago about the pregnancy, where she revealed she had reached 41 weeks.

“We are devastated, on behalf of Ryan, Allira, Evie and their families, to let you know that our beloved, inspiring, shining light Lauren passed away due to complications after giving birth to her beautiful, healthy, thriving baby girl – Lucinda Lauren Elizabeth Gaylard,” the statement says.

“This unfathomable loss is felt deeply by all of us that are part of her teaching team, by her family, her friends and we know it will be by all who came to know her.”

The statement said Lauren radiated light and wisdom towards everyone and everything she touched.

Lauren had chronicled her pregnancy journey, sharing that she’d suffered pregnancy complications including a low lying placenta and had been ‘couch bound at 35 weeks with indescribable pelvic girdle pain’.

At 30 weeks pregnant she wrote: “Pelvic instability, anaemia and gestational diabetes keeping me couch bound but otherwise awesome and looking forward to birthing this angel as soon as viably possible.”

Earlier throughout her pregnancy, she wrote of pelvic pain that had left her couch bound.

At 36 weeks Lauren was given the all clear for a natural home birth.

“Remarkably on my 36 week scan my cervix is now clear of what was a low lying placenta .5cm away,” she shared with her followers early last month.

“Even the Sonographer seemed shocked and called her senior in to confirm. The obstetrician who was about to convince me of a C section told me I was free to go home and birth naturally.”

Lauren had also posted about ‘wild birth’ and ‘free birth’ and had shared her positive take on the challenges saying she was ‘trusting the higher plan’.

“These last few weeks and months if I’m to be honest have been very challenging with the countless pregnancy complications I’ve had,” she posted just five days ago.

“But I hear my own children say “divine timing” when anyone asks when the baby is coming out. I love that they get it.

“So here we are 41 weeks pregnant trusting the higher plan.”

Lauren’s loved ones have vowed to turn to the shining light she left behind for comfort.

“In this time of darkness, we still have a shining light, not only in Lucinda, but also those who she leaves behind, especially Ryan and her daughters.

“May they and we all continue to share her light, her wisdom, her laughter, her tears for lifetimes to come.”

The community is in shock following her passing, with many turning to social media to express their love for the 42-year-old mother-of-three.

“I am heartbroken to have lost to this physical realm a most wonderful woman who taught me how to love and to be fearless,” one friend wrote.

“It has been my utmost honour and privilege to meet, train with, know and support her in her passion which is the physicality and energy of Zenko Yoga.
