A multimillion-dollar entertainment precinct four times the size of Howard Smith Wharves is being unveiled at Brisbane Airport tonight. See what’s in store for the huge site.
A multimillion-dollar entertainment precinct four times the size of Howard Smith Wharves will be unveiled at Brisbane Airport tonight, November 19.
The ambitious 4 Pines Brewing at Landers Pocket venture will cover 16ha and include an 800-person-capacity gastropub, Never Never gin distillery and function spaces.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner will pull the first pour tonight at a VIP function where Brisbane identities will sip ice luge martinis and oyster shell infused gin and devour Queensland tomahawk steaks.
Among those on the guest list are Broncos chairman Karl Morris and CEO Dave Donaghy, Brisbane Lions star Dayne Zorko and Australian cricketer Matt Renshaw.
American designer Caleb Nugent, who created the city’s “B” rebrand logo inspired by the river, will also be there.
Incorporating the existing Golf Central performance centre, the precinct will eventually also boast a 3000-person concert amphitheatre, a second mini golf course, padel courts, pop-up markets and a huge village green.
Landers Pocket director James Cooper said the venue “celebrates award-winning beer and gin, new wave golf and elevated dining”.
Thirty-two draught taps will pour the 4 Pines Brewing Co. core range, with two taps serving bespoke beers brewed onsite.
Golf Central’s car park has quadrupled in size to cater for the expansion.
Mr Cooper said Landers Pocket was the first venue travellers would see upon leaving the airport, positioning it to become a major drawcard for tourists, event-goers, families and locals.
He would not be drawn on the cost but said it was “a significant investment by Brisbane locals” including himself, Jon Dooley and Peter Robertson.
