Scenic Rim residents have turned their hay bales into creative sculptures for their annual festival that celebrates hay.
The famous Kalbar Hay Bale Trail is back for another year, featuring incredible sculptures all over the area.
The event is held in the lead-up to Kalbar Country Day, this Saturday.
The trail features hay bales decorated creatively by the community, with about 50 displays this year.
Locals spend weeks creating their hay bale artworks, with creations this year including Mick-hay and Min-hay Mouse, Slink-hay, and the Kalbar J-hay-l (a jail of hay bales).
Kalbar local Emily Lochran said the event fosters a sense of community.
“It’s unique, it is something for Kalbar and the Kalbar region, and it brings together the community,” she said.
“Some of the designs this year include Vege-hay-mite and Austin Powers with his ‘groove- hay-baby’ saying.
“The kids absolutely love it, every time we’ve got a hay bale coming up, they ask us to stop, slow down, and they get up and have a look.
“There are also hay bale bus tours, and then there is a competition for the best voted hay bale in the area.”
