Is former Bandidos member turned Hells Angel John Fahey the man who kickstarted events that led to bikie crackdown?

BIKIE sources believe this man is responsible for the chain of events that has led to the extraordinary crackdown on gangs. Find out what he did.

HE'S the Bandidos turncoat who may have unwittingly played a lead role in bringing the Queensland bikie world to its knees.

Bikie sources believe former Bandidos national sergeant-of-arms John Fahey's defection to the rival Hells Angels kickstarted a chain of events that led to last months' shocking Broadbeach Brawl - and the extraordinary police response that followed.

One of the most feared members of the Bandidos during 15 years with the gang, Fahey's defection to the rival Hells Angels earlier this year sparked a bitter falling-out with his former clubmates, who even set up a belittling Instagram page in his honour.

News_Rich_Media: Queensland police are set to flood into the Gold Coast to crack down hard on bikie gangs after two brawls.

His brother Jason remains the gang's national president.

Fahey has moved to the Gold Coast and has reportedly been entrusted with bringing new recruits to the Hells Angels.

It is widely believed in bikie circles the Bandidos that assembled en masse in Broadbeach last month were searching for Fahey.

But instead of finding Fahey, they found Jason Trouchet.

A former professional boxer who never lost a fight, Trouchet has a history of bad blood with Bandidos' Gold Coast boss Jacques Teamo, but has never belonged to a bikie gang.

The wild brawl that followed led to more than 30 arrests and extraordinary changes to legislation that now has bikie gangs cleaning out clubhouses and turning in club colours.

Police believe Trouchet, who has since moved to Darwin as part of his bail conditions, was the intended target of Bandidos' hostility, due to an ongoing feud with Teamo, but sources close to other criminal motorcycle gangs said Fahey was the real target.

"He's always in Broadbeach and they were looking for him," said one source.

"But when they saw Jason Trouchet having dinner in there it was going to be on anyway."

Fahey's lawyer yesterday declined to comment on the reports.
