A PAINTING by one of Boonah's finest painters will be hanging with some of the best pieces of art in the world.
Boonah-based artist Dany Weus will be the only Australian artist on show in the Louvre in December for the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts.
His painting, Colours of Water #2, will hang in the Carrousel du Louvre below the museum later this year.
The French born painter, who moved to Australia in 1974, paints in a style inspired by renowned American artist Jackson Pollock.
"It's Pollockian in style, but I paint with Australia in mind," he said.
"I use colours that are really Australian in nature."
A former newspaper photographer, Mr Weus paints in a studio on the upper floor of the old Boonah Butter Factory.
Smattered in paint and full of empty tins, his workspace includes evidence of his shift from a more traditional style of painting to the Pollock-inspired style that will see him displayed at the world's most famous gallery.
"The exhibit is 150 years old," he said.
"It's just fantastic to have my art accepted to be shown there.
"This is the biggest show in the world."
The SNBA was founded in the 19th century by artists looking to show off new trends in art.
Along with Colours of Water #2, Mr Weus will take a range of his paintings, including some not yet finished, to Paris for his own exhibition. He has previously had paintings exhibited in New York as well as France.
Mr Weus will travel with his wife Vivienne to Paris for the exhibition in December.
The Colours of Water #2 will be on display from December 13-16 in the triangle of The Pyramid at The Louvre.
Mr Weus is represented in Australia by the Art and Soul Gallery, Boonah.
