A 41-YEAR-OLD local woman died on Tuesday after the car she was driving and a B-double semi-trailer collided on the Warrego Highway.

Police said the crash was on the eastbound lanes of the highway near Plainland about 5.10pm.

The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service said the semi caught fire after the collision and the woman and a passenger were trapped.

The RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter airlifted a 15-year-old boy to hospital in Brisbane.

He has head, neck, chest and spinal injuries and was one of three people who had to be released from the wreckage.
