Warrego Highway crash: Car travelling wrong way at Blacksoil crashed into second car

A 38-year-old man has been charged by police over the incident, which led to the eastbound lanes of the Warrego Highway being shut as emergency services responded.

Police have charged a man after he allegedly drove in the wrong direction down the Warrego Highway on Monday night and collided with another car.

It will be alleged the man was driving west in the eastbound lanes at Blacksoil with the crash occurring just before 10pm.

The eastbound lanes of the highway at Blacksoil were shut for several hours as emergency services responded to the incident just before the Brisbane Valley Highway and Wulkuraka exit.

Traffic was diverted through Walloon and heavy vehicles were advised to take an alternate route.

The 50-year-old woman driving the other car was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with abdominal pain in a stable condition.

The 38-year-old man was apprehended at the scene and taken to Ipswich Hospital in a stable condition.

He has been charged with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and is expected to face the Ipswich Magistrates Court on October 5.
