A WOMAN accused of trying to disarm a man who was hit in the head with a wrench outside his house in a Christmas Day attempted robbery has told the court she was trying to defuse the situation.
Daniella Sussan Harding, 23, has pleaded not guilty in the Ipswich Magistrates Court to attempted robbery with personal violence.
The court heard on Christmas Day 2012 the alleged victim was at his parent's Ironbark home celebrating Christmas.
Around 7pm he received a call from his son who told him there was a man armed with a wrench attacking cars in the road outside the house.
The man walked outside, with a baseball bat, and was accosted by the other man and Harding.
The man, wielding a wrench, swore at the alleged victim telling him he wanted to take his car.
The Crown alleged Harding then grabbed the victim's shoulder from behind and jumped on the baseball bat to try to disarm him.
The court heard the man with the wrench then hit the victim in the ear with the weapon.
Harding and the man left without being able to steal the car.
Harding's defence does not deny the offence took place, or that she was present, but claims she was trying to defuse the stand off and prevent a fight from taking place.
The Ipswich District Court trial continues.
