THE cream of the artistic crop at Lowood State High School will be on show at the school's arts showcase on Friday.
An art gallery and musical drama and dance performances all created and performed by the students will take centre stage at the school hall.
Students from the four artistic disciplines the school provides will have their best work on show.
The performances have all been devised either by the school's students or teachers.
The art gallery will see student's creations in line drawings, landscapes, clay sculptures, ceramics and dream catchers amongst the work.
Lowood State High School dance and drama subject area co-ordinator Kristie-Lee Doyle said the evening was a chance for the school to show off its talented students.
"This year we had an outstanding number of students who wanted to perform, especially from the younger year levels," he said.
"It's always great to give students the opportunity to perform as it really builds their confidence and it is great to give them the chance to show off their own work."
The night will see 24 performances from music, dance and drama students with representations from every year level. There will also be a range of dramatic productions, from modernised Shakespearian plays, to clowning routines.
Meanwhile, music students will present vocal performances and band work.
Similarly there will be a range of dance styles on show including contemporary and musical theatre.
Miss Doyle said the showcase has become a popular night on the school's social calendar.
The night has attracted crowds of more than 400 people.
Miss Doyle said the arts had become a big part of the school's curriculum.
Dance is now offered as a senior curriculum, while students can undertake a Certificate two in Visual Art through the school.
"The Arts Showcase night is a great way to entertain the wider community and also allows people from outside the school to get a glimpse of what the students are learning about within these subjects," she said.
The Lowood State High School Arts Showcase will be held at the Lowood State High School on Friday night.
The art gallery will be open from 5.30pm while the performances are scheduled to begin from 6.30pm and run until 8.45pm. Entry into the Arts Showcase is a gold coin donation.
