IT was definitely a specialists race in the Benchmark 68 Handicap over 800 metres today at Ipswich.

The seven-horse line-up nearly all had form at the track and trip with The Darling finishing ahead of the field to go one better than his last start at the track.

The win was well deserved for the Stuart Kendrick-trained mare who has been in the placings for the past four starts.

Décor Deels found some form in the stayers race today over 2210 metres for trainer John Thomas.

Decor Deels was ridden by Zac Lloyd who has started the season well at Ipswich with three wins to his name. Lloyd took the gelding wide to pick up the field and claim the win.

It was a strong performance after a last start at Beaudesert where he ran seventh after a slow start.

Emergent was one of the standouts and has gone from strength to strength since moving to the Chris Anderson stable.

The Sebring gelding won the Class 1 1350m after jumping well from gate two for jockey Baylee Nothdurft.

The former Sydney galloper moved from the John O’Shea stable and has had one start for his new trainer prior to his first Queensland win when third at Doomben.

He was certainly impressive jumping well clear to settle at the front of the field although tiring towards the line.

David Vandyke’s runner Wheels ran second in the race and showed a sharp turn of foot in the home stretch.

It was a first up Australian effort for the New Zealand mare by Shocking and should be one to watch at her next start.
