FOR the second time this month, an Ipswich-raised Sydney Rooster appears to be on his way home.
Lowood product Martin Kennedy has been granted a release from his Roosters contract and is expected to sign with the Broncos for next season as soon as Monday.
The move comes only weeks after the Broncos poached Goodna prop Lama Tasi from the Roosters to boost their forward stocks.
According to Ipswich Jets chairman Steve Johnson, the recruitment of the two local props is a testimony to the quality of local rugby league development.
"It's a wonderful thing for footy in Ipswich," he said.
"It's something to be applauded. Marty and Lama are two guys our juniors can look to and now see the pathway to the NRL.
"It reconnects our kids with one of our best local players in the game and our local NRL team."
Johnson said the Broncos have been looking at re-establishing their connection to Ipswich.
"'Buying the farm back' as they (the Broncos) call it, is something they talked to us about when we were discussing our affiliation with them."
The Broncos have been criticised in recent seasons for missing a number of talented Ipswich juniors, including Kennedy, Tasi and Canberra Raider Anthony Milford, to other NRL clubs.
