Moto park set to be a major attraction

ONE of Queensland's largest trail bike facilities is set to open in Wyaralong before the end of the year.

ONE of Queensland's largest trail bike facilities is set to open in Wyaralong before the end of the year.

The first stage of the Queensland Moto Park development is scheduled to be opened on Sunday December 18.

With the park being built in a number of stages, the area will consist of three motocross tracks, a smaller junior track, a PeeWee track, 50km of trail loops and a freestyle motocross area when it's finished.

Motorcycling Queensland general manager Lindsay Granger said the facility would be a major attraction for Wyaralong.

"The Queensland Moto Park team are very excited to be this close to opening in December," he said.

"It has taken years from planning to development.

"Having the support of the Queensland government and council of mayors in conjunction with Motorcycling Queensland, we will be able to deliver on a promise to offer a high class off-road motorcycling area in Queensland."

The facility has already been used for a number of pre-launch events designed for real world noise testing and to put the park through its paces before officially opening.

Track builder and professional rider Matt Schubring said the tests had allowed developers to continue to examine the design while construction was continuing.

"The pre-opening events we have hosted were a great way to get instant feedback on the tracks and facilities we will offer in the future, from motorcycle manufacturers to riders of all ages and skill levels," he said.

"It has been a key component to understanding the public's perception and what the riders themselves want to see at the park."
