RACING continued this week at Ipswich, albeit patron free due to the Queensland lockdown and rain which eventually forced Friday’s meeting to be abandoned after the fourth.

Appropriately named for today’s meeting was Gala Rain who claimed the Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap for trainer Lindsay Gough and ridden by Tiffani Brooker.

The mare’s liking for the heavy 10 track was at $10 odds on the tote, finishing ahead of $1.90 favourite Daulat Machtigamor.

The Michael Nolan and Jim Byrne combination picked up a double with Hinged and Princess Bojack coming home clear winners before the meeting was abandoned.

Hinged flourished in the wet and continues with her good form claiming a win in the QTIS two-year-old handicap over 1350m.

The Tycoon Ruler runner has amassed over $100,000 in just five runs proving she is one to keep watch on as she moves up in distance.

Princess Bojack was well clear at the post and too good after jumping from barrier three in the 800m sprint race.

The two-year-old found her feet over the slightly shorter distance and heavy track turning around her form of late.
