IPSWICH BMX club members Brock Miller and Chloe Jackson are set to contest the BMX World Titles in Auckland, New Zealand, with nothing to fear.

Both have shown in the past they can overcome adversity and pain to succeed.

Ipswich Central grade four student Chloe came fifth at the national titles at the Sleeman Centre, in the 10-years-girls age group in May to qualify for the world titles.

"It was big surprise," the nine-year-old from Flinders View said.

Chloe, who has been competing on her BMX since age five, finished third at nationals in her age group in 2010 and was second at the state titles in Cairns last year.

It will be the first time she has competed at a world championship and Chloe described it as "really, really exciting."

"I want to win," she said.

Chloe said jumping was her greatest strength on the bike.

For 12-year-old Brock, the focus is very much on getting the best start out of the gates possible.

The Silkstone State School grade seven student finished eighth at the national titles.

Remarkably however, it came just three weeks after a bone operation on his leg.

"I'll just try hard," he said of his goals for New Zealand.

"I picture the gates and turn (as I wait for the start of a race).

"Just try to get out first, have a good race and hopefully do well."

Both riders have already achieved plenty making it this far but there are high hopes for what they can achieve in the future.

Both are the smallest among the Australian team in their age groups, so once they fill-out the sky is the limit.

They have demonstrated their commitment already, both overcoming all sorts of injuries to get this far.

Brock has had his teeth go through his lip and been knocked out in falls.

At state titles Chloe had to be taken to hospital after a nasty fall.

Having won all her heats she was first to the opening jump and landed it, but her nearest rival didn't and clipped Chloe as she came down.

Of the six girls who went down Chloe was last up but finished the race.

Even then she was keener to get back to the hotel pool than go to hospital.

Racing for both Ipswich riders starts today and the world titles finish on Sunday.
