SPRINGFIELD'S vision for a South Bank-style beach could be delayed if the State Government doesn't come to the party.
The Ipswich City Council and Federal Government have committed $5 million each for Stage 2 of the Robelle Domain Parklands and have called on the state to deliver the same.
However, the State Government has not yet decided whether it will support the project, and is not expected to announce any funding for it in the September budget.
Springfield councillor David Morrison said if the State Government did not assist the project the council would be forced to delay elements into a third stage of development.
"They have not yet committed to providing support for the project; we're still seeking the funding," he said.
"But it's much too soon to say that the State Government isn't going to provide the money we've been calling for.
"The State Government will announce their budget in September, that's when we'd be likely to know one way or the other."
The second stage of the Robelle Parklands is to feature a beach lagoon styled after the popular South Bank in Brisbane.
State Treasurer Tim Nicholls said he wouldn't comment on individual projects until the LNP Government's first budget came out later this year.
"All decisions regarding the funding of projects will be considered within the context of framing the September budget," he said.
Cr Morrison said the council would be forced to delay elements of the project if the State Budget failed to provide funding.
"If they didn't support it, our first plan would be to see how much of Stage 2 we could do with $10 million," he said.
"Part of the vision might have to become Stage 3."
The council and Federal Government announced the project in June.
It would mean a gully now dry, stretching west behind the parklands' existing waterfall, would become a small river with a lagoon with beaches.
The first stage of the Robelle Domain Parklands in Springfield Central was built with equal support from the council, state and federal governments.
