TWO serious water-related incidents have sparked warnings for Ipswich residents to take care when visiting the dams to celebrate the New Year.
Seqwater acting CEO Jim Pruss said tens of thousands of people would visit south-east Queensland's major dams in the coming days.
"Unfortunately we've had a few reported safety incidents over the festive period at some of our busiest lakes - Moogerah and Somerset - with a near drowning and a water skiing injury.
"It's a timely reminder of the need to take care and to play it safe."
A 16-year-old girl sustained shoulder and head injuries in an accident at Somerset Dam about midday on Wednesday.
She was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
