SINGERS and dancers, comedians and bands, the Lowood State High School Talent Quest has seen it all.

The hugely popular annual event saw close to 30 individuals and groups from years 8 through to 12 enter the competition.

Heats have been running throughout the past weeks, with students performing to crowds of up to 400 of their peers.

The finals for the talent quest will be held next Friday night at the Lowood High School Hall from 6.30pm.

Lowood High School drama and dance subject area co-ordinator Kristie-Lee Doyle said the students loved the quest.

"It's just a fantastic event for the kids," she said.

"So many of the students are involved in it, if they aren't competing they're in the hall at lunchtime cheering their friends on."

Miss Doyle and music subject area co-ordinator Miss Lillis have taken on the roles as judges for the competition.

Hard rock band Snaplock made up of a group of Year 12 boys wowed the crowed with their performance of AC/DC songs at their heat before moving onto the final.

Miss Doyle said they were one of a number of groups to come out of nowhere to impress.

"No one knew they could play any instruments at all , and they came out and just blew everyone away.

"Some of the kids take part in the quest every year and some, like Snaplock, are only performing for their first time this year."

The finals of the Lowood State High School talent quest will be held next Friday night at the school hall from 6pm.
