A PURPOSE-BUILT swim school has opened its doors in one of Ipswich’s highest growth areas inside the city’s newest shopping centre.
Rackley Swimming, which operates schools across south east Queensland, has opened its 27th site in Yamanto Central.
General manager Cameron Speechley said the new state-of-the-art facility, which includes two heated learn to swim pools, was the “pinnacle” of 23 years of work by the family-run business.
It is the second Rackley facility in Ipswich, with another in Redbank Plains, and the fourth to be set up in a shopping centre as part of a shift towards ‘non-traditional’ settings in growing areas.
“This centre is designed around the ultimate focus on the customer,” Mr Speechley said.
“From climate-controlled pool areas, air conditioned viewing areas, child’s play area, and swim shop, children and parents will receive a best in class experience, all while enjoying the benefits of swimming.”
CEO Reece Rackley said the opening came at a time when lessons have taken a back seat due to Covid-19 lockdowns.
“We are always striving to stay ahead of the curve, while keeping families at the centre of our business,” he said.
“This centre provides the perfect environment for children to learn vital lifelong skills while practising safer swimming.
“Ensuring the community has a revitalised and first class facility to enjoy healthy, active lifestyles is at the core of our business and after many families missed out on lessons last year due to the pandemic, the facility could not have arrived at a better time.
“We could not pick a better location and neighbourhood to expand our family swim school.”
The school is located on the ground floor of the shopping centre with the first 500 swimmers to enrol receiving a 10 per cent discount.
Lessons are open to all ages and ability.
Rackley Swimming started in 1951 when the family managed the Burleigh Beach Baths pool at Burleigh Heads.
It was restarted in 1998 under its current guise when Trevor Rackley reopened the Burleigh Heads swim school.
