DESPITE the parties' campaigning and promises, the money is on only one seat changing hands in the wider Ipswich area.

According to the punters on Sportsbet.com.au, the incumbent members in Ipswich, Ipswich West, Bundamba and Lockyer will all retain their seats, while Katter's Australian Party state leader Aidan McLindon will lose to the LNP's Jon Krause.

Sportsbet spokesman Shaun Anderson said in previous elections the betting markets had been accurate forecasts of the election.

"Each case is different, but where the money goes is usually a good indication of the outcome," he said.

"It usually is a very good guide as to how people are thinking of voting."

According to Sportsbet, the sitting Labor Members for Ipswich and Bundamba, Rachel Nolan and Jo-Ann Miller, are heavy favourites with punters.

Ms Nolan is paying $1.15 to beat LNP candidate Ian Berry, who is a $4.20 outsider.

Mrs Miller is also the $1.15 favourite ahead of her LNP opponent Michael Kitzelmann, who is paying $3.85.

On the other hand, Labor Member for Ipswich West Wayne Wendt is in for a fight this weekend, paying $1.70 while his LNP challenger Sean Choat is paying $1.85.

The sitting LNP member for Lockyer, Ian Rickuss, is as close to a sure thing as possible, paying $1.01 for every $1 put on him, with his Labor opponent James Wilson a $10 outsider.

According to the odds in Beaudesert, Mr Krause is the only local candidate who will win a seat off a sitting member, slightly ahead of Mr McLindon in Beaudesert. Mr Krause is paying $1.60 to Mr McLindon's $1.98. The ALP candidate Brett McCreadie is a huge outsider, paying $51 to win the seat.

The betting market has shown some marked differences from official polls, with Campbell Newman a $1.50 favourite to beat incumbent ALP member Kate Jones, who has recently out-polled Mr Newman.

This is the first election Sportsbet has taken bets on every electorate and it is the only betting agency to do so.
