THE completion of a 5km footpath network has signalled another important step in the $1 billion Citiswich industrial estate.

Major tenants including hardware giant Masters and local transport company Hoepners have been confirmed to take up huge chunks of real estate within the second stage of the 350-hectare estate, between Brisbane Rd, Ebbw Vale and the Warrego Hwy at Bundamba.

Development manager Adam Heather said negotiations were under way with several other major tenants, including a supermarket, takeaway food businesses and cafes, in addition to major industrial companies.

"We are just about to wash our hands and get into the job of selling the rest of the land," Mr Heather said.

"We have been held up with our sewerage but that will be finished in a couple of months."

As it stands now, stage 2 is about 35% occupied.

Developer Walker Corporation is banking on Masters being a strong magnet for further investment in the business park, which is the largest in Queensland.

A large site off Hoepner Rd has been flattened for the hardware chain and construction is expected to begin next month.

Mr Heather said Masters was scheduled to open in March next year. "It will be a huge attractor of traffic into this area," he said of the hardware store.

"They will be building a 10,000sq m shed here, which is slightly smaller than the 13,000 sq m shed they have at Springfield."

Local area councillor Bruce Casos said the industrial estate's footpaths, linking Ebbw Vale and Dinmore train stations via Hoepner Rd and suburban Dinmore, were a vital addition.

"This just creates so many more employment opportunities," Cr Casos said.

An application for a 115-lot residential subdivision is also before Ipswich City Council. In addition, council has approved 15 industrial lots on stage 4 comprising more than 20 hectares.

Mr Heather said four buildings were being designed for stages 1 and 2.

Lots from 6000sq m to 29,000sq m are available.
