LEICHHARDT has experienced the highest growth in the volume of sales in the past year, according to new research by PRDnationwide.
The top ten suburbs for sales spikes have been identified by PRDnationwide research analyst Josh Brown.
They include Leichhardt, with a 141% growth in sales volumes, and Springfield Lakes with a 110% growth in sales.
Mr Brown said given the general affordability of housing within the top ten suburbs, a correlation between housing affordability and increased transactions could be clearly seen.
“Five out of the top ten suburbs have a median house price less than $400,000 and the remaining five register within the $400,000 to $450,000 price bracket,” he said.
Mr Brown said Leichhardt had registered an average of $245,000 over the six months to June, 2009, and had also experienced the highest sales activity.
