SOME of Australia's biggest building companies have met to plan for the roll-out of the first of 7000 homes across Providence in the Ripley Valley.

The builders behind a 24-home display village for the new Providence development in the Ripley Valley met to design the look and feel of the display village which will be created as a "mini neighbourhood", including a cafe/parkland precinct.

Thirty builders from across south-east Queensland converged on Providence recently and project director Michael Khan said the building community had backed the project by snapping up land in the display village.

"Land in the display village was over-subscribed and completely sold out on the day of release to the builders," Mr Khan said.

"The display village will feature homes from some of the largest builders in Australia and include quality brands, including Plantation Homes, Metricon, Simonds, Stylemaster, Ausbuild, Planbuild Homes, Bold Properties, Hotondo Homes and Burbank.

"It's rare to get the state heads of competing major building companies together to plan a display village, but they are united by the strong consumer demand for housing in the Ripley Valley."

As the QT has reported, about 750 people a week are searching for information about land at Providence, the largest single development in the Ripley Valley.

Metricon managing director Jason Biasin said they were excited by its scope.

"Providence is set to be the standout community in the Ripley Valley," Mr Biasin said. "From a business perspective it makes good sense for us to establish ourselves in what is set to be a major growth corridor accommodating a substantial population in the next 20 years."

Plantation Homes state sales manager Brad Collinsof said despite rarely entering into the first display village of new projects, the size and scale of Providence helped convince them to get on board early.

"The developers are backing the project heavily, with the quality infrastructure and amenity they have committed to building up front," Mr Collins said.

"Land pricing has also been competitive, meaning we can put together house and land packages that will entice buyers."

Metricon will deliver four display homes and Plantation three, with both builders displaying single and double-storey designs. The display village is scheduled to start being built late this year with an expected opening by mid-2015.

Over the next 20 years, Providence will be spread across 670 hectares, about three times the size of Brisbane's CBD, and will be the largest single development in the Ripley Valley.
