IT WAS a dark day for coffee lovers and foodies across Ipswich when FourthChild shut its doors indefinitely.
The popular cafe, which originally opened in May 2011, had built up a strong following of loyal customers as word of mouth spread about its well-crafted coffee, food and trendy atmosphere.
Thus, when the venue closed in November last year, there were cries of disappointment from the community.
But now that disappointment has turned to excitement with news the venue is set to reopen next month, under new management.
Rosewood couple Ross and Christine Williams, along with daughter Jessica, will be operating the cafe/restaurant, with plans to make it better than before.
"I visited FourthChild before it closed and loved the feel of it," Mrs Williams said.
"There's a growing demand in Ipswich for venues offering high-end food and a setting for functions.
"Ipswich has a lot of coffee places, but not many that have full table service in a funky atmosphere like here at FourthChild."
Mrs Williams said the venue already had a great reputation in Ipswich, which is why she and her family wanted to buy the FourthChild name as well.
"The previous owner did a fabulous job," she said.
"We've had a lot of people, who have noticed work being done to the place, stop to inquire about when it's going to open again.
"When we relaunched the FourthChild Facebook page, we amassed more than 600 likes in less than a week and a half."
The reopened cafe will offer convenient online ordering, a take-away station, wi-fi, corporate catering and high teas.
Two highly skilled chefs will cook up monthly menu updates which will showcase their passion for modern cuisine and international experience.
Mrs Williams said she also had plans to apply for liquor licensing.
The family, currently owners and managers of the Rising Sun Hotel in Rosewood, said they were relishing the opportunity to bring their own brand of hospitality and cuisine to the Top of Town.
FourthChild Cafe will reopen on Monday, February 10.
