Police arrest: Ipswich region woman allegedly stalked by masturbator

An Ipswich man will be spending some uncomfortable nights in a remand cell after police arrested him for allegedly subjecting a local woman to a disgusting act on her front lawn.

Days after an Ipswich woman was allegedly stalked through the streets of Redbank Plains, the Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch tracked down and arrested a local man.

A police spokesman said the woman was allegedly followed by the 21-year-old man before he allegedly masturbated in front of her on her front lawn near Fernbrook Ridge and Regents Street on September 10.

“Police will allege that the man followed a 23-year-old woman and then exposed himself and committed an indecent act in front of her,” he said.

After the alleged incident, the woman who asked not to reveal her identity, urged women walking the streets to be aware of their surroundings at all hours of the day, not just at night.

The spokesman said local officers worked tirelessly to ensure charges were laid in relation to the alleged incident.

“The Redbank Plains man was charged with one count each of unlawful stalking and indecent act and was refused bail in relation to this and other matters,” he said.

The spokesman said the man appeared in Ipswich Magistrates Court on September 19, however he was refused bail.

The man will next front court on October 12.
