‘Working so hard’: TikTok P-plater Anthony Matthew Sciberras tells magistrate he needs licence for collabs

An Ipswich fishing TikToker, whose wild videos include him eating raw seafood, has begged a magistrate not to take his licence because he could lose followers.

A Raceview man who said he needed a licence to make fishing TikTok collaborations has faced sentence for driving with THC in his saliva while on his P-plate.

Anthony Matthew Sciberras, 21, represented himself in Ipswich Magistrates Court — pleading guilty on September 6 to one count of driving on a P-plate while THC was present in his saliva — and told Magistrate David Shepherd he was a TikTok streamer and blogger and that he needed his licence to drive long distances for collaborations.

Sciberras’ TikTok platform includes videos of him fishing and even includes footage of him eating raw seafood.

“I’m worried that losing my licence will result in me losing my sponsorships and viewers and followers,” he said.

He asked that his licence not be disqualified, saying “I’m worried that I’ll lose all the momentum that I’ve been working so hard to build up”.

Magistrate Shepherd told Sciberras he had no choice but to disqualify his licence because he had been on his P-plate at the time.

“If your licence is so important to you, you need to perhaps be a little more cautious with it,” he said.

The court heard that on June 4, 2022, Sciberras drove with THC in his saliva on Redbank Plains Road, Redbank Plains, while on a provisional licence.

The police were performing a stationary mobile traffic enforcement and pulled Sciberras over in his Suzuki Hatch for a roadside drug test.

He tested positive and was transported to Springfield Police Station, where the court heard he admitted to recently using drugs.

Sciberras was fined $350 and was disqualified from obtaining or holding a licence for three months.

Magistrate Shepherd noted he granted Sciberras the minimum period of disqualification due to his lack of criminal history and young age.

No convictions were recorded.
