An Ipswich family has been left heartbroken over the sudden loss of a devoted husband, brother and father in a tragic motorcycle crash, which they say “didn’t have to happen”.

Jai Casey Neven, 31, was a much-loved husband to his wife Chelsea and adored father to three young children – Mila, 4, and twins Chad and Xavier, 2.

The Dinmore bricklayer lost his life while riding his motorcycle in a traffic crash at North Maclean on February 27.

Police are still investigating the collision between Jai’s blue Yamaha YZF-RS and a grey Mitsubishi ASX at the intersection of Teviot Road and Scott Lane around 6am.

Mother-in-law Karen Bakes described Jai as “full of life” and “extremely devoted” to his family.

“They were his everything and he loved them fiercely,” she said.

“We love him so much, he was a son to us.

“Twelve years of having him in our lives wasn’t enough, but my gosh I’ll treasure those 12 years forever more.

“Jai was unique. There will never be another soul like his.”

Ms Bakes said the family felt it was important to warn others to be bike-aware on the roads.

“This tragedy didn’t have to happen,” she said.

The other driver has not been accused of any wrongdoing.

Police investigations are ongoing, and there is no suggestion Jai was in any way at fault.

Family friend Anna Poulton started a GoFundMe to raise funds for Jai’s grieving family, which has already exceeded its $10,000 target.

“Anyone who was touched to have Jai in their life, knows that his family was his world,” Ms Poulton wrote.

“As most of you would know, Chelsea and Jai’s beautiful baby girl also has Angelman Syndrome which is a rare genetic condition.

“The money raised will also help support Chelsea with any medical or additional interventions required for Mila as she gets older.”

A funeral service was held for Jai at Centenary Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, March 5.
