The former owner of a closed down barber shop is back in court after being charged with more than 15 counts of supplying drugs, including meth, in Brisbane and Ipswich.
Rami Chaarani, 34, pleaded guilty in Ipswich District Court to 18 counts of supplying schedule 1 dangerous drugs.
The court heard he had previously been sentenced in Ipswich Magistrates Court December 4, 2020, for riding a stolen motorcycle with false license plates around the Brisbane and Ipswich areas.
The court heard Chaarani had a criminal history.
The most serious and relevant offences relating to his charges before the Ipswich Magistrates Court in 2020, which involved the stolen motorcycle.
The court heard during his arrest in 2020 police discovered 18 transactions on his mobile phone relating to the supply of cannabis and methamphetamine to eight different people.
The Crown told the court after Chaarani’s matter in 2020, it took police some time to officially charge him with 18 counts of supplying dangerous drugs.
The court heard his current offending, which took place when he was 31, was more serious than his previous offending due to the number of charges.
Chaarani was concurrently sentenced to 18 months’ jail for 16 counts of supplying a dangerous drug and 12 months for the two other counts.
He was granted immediate parole, having served 12 months in pre-sentence custody.
The court heard Chaarani was a previous owner of a barber shop and also was a qualified renderer.
He had ambitions to start his own business again in the future.
