A police officer has fronted court after being stood down from duty and charged with driving under the influence while on the job.
Yamanto resident Timothy Lawrence Shepherd, 41, fronted Ipswich Magistrates Court today (February 1), charged with one count of driving under the influence of liquor.
The charge relates to a crash in Yamanto in January, in which Mr Shepherd is alleged to have been driving a police vehicle when he crashed into another car.
A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed at the time that a senior constable from Operations Support Command was involved in a two-vehicle crash, while on duty, at Bladon Street, Yamanto at 8.10pm on Wednesday, January 4.
The two occupants of the other vehicle were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Mr Shepherd is alleged to have returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.177 per cent at the time.
He was stood down from duty and charged.
On February 1, his lawyer Calvin Gnech told the court his client intended to plead guilty to the charge.
The matter was adjourned to February 23 for mention, and Mr Shepherd was granted bail.
Mr Shepherd and Mr Gnech both declined to comment on the matter at this stage.
