THE action wasn't all on the track at the Ipswich Cup, with thousands of people partying on the infield.
With nearly 3000 people inside the Breezer Marquee alone, and more than 6000 in total in marquees in the centre of the track, the area was a haven for party goers of all ages.
But with big screens, islands of bookmakers and an inside view of the track, the infield also was a prime location for punters to watch the day's races.
The uniqueness of the infield marquees resulted in people inviting friends and family from across the country and the world.
The marquees throughout the infield were booked out by local clubs and organisations, as well as people from across the south-east.
Ipswich Turf Club general manager Brett Kitching said the infield had received an overwhelmingly positive response.
"The infield was just superb. I've had nothing but positives so far," he said.
"It's a completely unique day, and what we do over there creates a great atmosphere you don't find at race meets anywhere else across Australia."
Along with the racing, local band Wasabi performed throughout the day, returning after receiving a great reception last year.
The action in the infield continued after the final race of the day with Wasabi continuing to perform at the after party, which ran into the night.
Mr Kitching said within days the infrastructure in the centre of the track would be dismantled and turned back into an empty paddock.
"We have to build that all up from scratch every year."
