A young Ipswich mum who had a promising hairdressing career ahead of her was caught driving on meth three times while on her provisional licence.

The Ipswich Magistrates Court heard Paige Marie Mann’s major addiction took hold during a relationship with an ex-boyfriend.

Police prosecutor Bernard Elmore said the mum of two was dealing with substance abuse when caught drug driving on May 23, June 3, and July 8.

Solicitor Christy Louden said the ex was going through court for alleged serious crimes.

“She began using seriously about a year and a half ago because she was in a relationship where the partner was using and so she began using as well,” she said.

“The relationship ended in August.”

Ms Louden said Mann had a certificate three in hairdressing and started a diploma in exercise.

“Prior to this relationship with this person she had a job in a call centre which she subsequently lost,” she said.

Magistrate Peter Saggers told Mann her drug use will have a significant impact on her ability to work and parent.

“They don’t want to see their mum using drugs…. which you put their kids with their dad, that was a very responsible and insightful thing to do and no doubt a very hard thing to do,” he said.

“But you need to get yourself fixed up.”

Mann pleaded guilty to three charges of drug driving while on a provisional licence and driving unlicensed.

Magistrate Peter Saggers sentenced Mann to a 12 month parole order and suspended her licence for two years.
