Time to stand up for the people

I CONCUR with Jim Dodrill's message in his letter (QT 02/01), to "Put the people first and say no to dumps".

The job of elected representatives is to do just that - represent the interests of the people who elected them to office.

Development application processes are for public servants in the plannning department but councillors are elected to stand up for the desires and needs of their electorates, not equivocate on such major issues.

Otherwise what are they for?

Time to step up Councillor Kerry Silver and be seen to do what you promised at election time. Put the people first and do what you can to prevent the establishment of further landfill facilities in the division you represent.

We have had enough of living with dumps.

We will not sit idly by and allow a new one to be established on our back doorstep unopposed.

Close proximity of landfills to residential areas can be nothing but detrimental to lifestyles, health, amenity and property values and everyone who has any sense knows it.
