OPINION: Applaud the PM don’t condemn him

I’LL be straight up and say I am in the minority because I like Tony Abbott.

I'LL be straight up and say I am in the minority because I like Tony Abbott.

Yes, he may do some strange things, such as giving old Prince Philip a knighthood, but in essence he is a caring, family man.

That's the type of person I want to be the leader of this country.

I have had the chance to meet him on a few occasions and every time he has impressed me.

I found that unlike many other leading politicians he listened to what others had to say rather than just nodding politely and moving on.

It is unfortunate that he is a dead man walking as far as the Prime Minister's role goes.

Every time he makes a comment the press is seeking to discredit him and that was never more evident than his recent statement concerning the Bali Nine members about to face the firing squad.

Abbott rightly reminded Indonesia that it has been one way traffic from this country in regards giving them support and that they should bear this in mind when considering our pleas to save these men.

Who cares if an arrogant Indonesian Foreign Minister fires back at Abbott saying he was rude?

Abbott just told the plain truth and I am sure 90% of Australians would have applauded him for saying it.

As I have said in this column before, Indonesia is a rude, arrogant and corrupt country and we should avoid it at all costs.
