Keep 'whining' cyclists off roads

No vehicle, short of an Abrams Battle Tank, would be able to wade through the throng of self-righteous pedallers of bad sentiment.

WHAT a nerve, the story about apportioning blame to the road user without investigation or trial (QT 02/03).

To blame the poor driver who would then assume the financial and administrative consequences of such inequality and perhaps false accusations of guilt ,to benefit a small but arrogant subsection of society is wrong.

Cyclists don't pay for the road they use. They take advantage of their anonymity to break the law and don't want to take responsibility for their own actions. It seems they won't be happy until they can knock the young and elderly off pedestrian crossings, ride four and five abreast and run red lights with impunity.

In our rural area, we are often inundated with cyclists from the city who take over the entire two lanes of our country roads and don't give way to traffic (no shoulders on our roads).

No vehicle, short of an Abrams Battle Tank, would be able to wade through the throng of self-righteous pedallers of bad sentiment.

I have been stuck behind 100 or so bikes on a road that does not offer an alternative route around them.

Bring on compulsory rego and number plates. I don't believe they should be allowed on any road that doesn't have a shoulder of at least 1m available.

They land on us and say "your town and the roads around it belong to us for the weekend".

Bicycle tracks and velodromes have been provided by councils and community groups so cyclists can bike in safety. Failing this, approach a cycling club to build your own "road track" because I can hear these pedantics whining that they are "road racers".

Ride the "meat mincer" at your own risk and be mature enough to take responsibility for your own fate.
