Olympian Justin Lemberg’s McDonald’s Goodna to receive multimillion dollar makeover

McDonald’s has announced a restaurant in Brisbane’s southwest, run by a former Olympics golden boy, is the next on its list to receive a multimillion-dollar makeover.

McDonald’s Australia has released designs for a $3.2 million makeover of its Goodna restaurant in Brisbane’s southwest, as part of a commitment to open 100 new outlets and remodel half of its existing ones by the end 2025.

The Goodna McDonald’s was not just about easthetics but would also increase efficiency,

franchisee owner Justin Lemberg said.

Mr Lemberg was a formidable middle-distance swimmer in the 1980s, winning a bronze medal in the 400m freestyle at the 1984 Los Angeles olympics.

He now was the licensee of eight restaurants across the southeast and said he was thrilled to see his Goodna franchise included in Macca’s top 100 list.

“We are excited to start construction on our local restaurant in Goodna, injecting $3.2 million into the local economy and creating over 90 jobs for local construction workers and restaurant employees,” Mr Lemberg said.

“Reinvestment is an important part of our ongoing commitment to providing customers with the best possible experience when they visit our restaurants.

“It also allows us to create new jobs for members of the local community, through expanding our operational capabilities to allow us to provide quicker and more efficient service for our customers.

“We appreciate our customers’ patience over their coming months and look forward to welcoming them to the newly refurbished McDonald’s Goodna, serving up our great quality, great tasting menu”.

The upgrade would include a new exterior, terrace, dining room, amenities, dedicated partner delivery room, new indoor playground and meeting room.

The front counter and McCafe would be moved to enhance the customer experience and improve operational efficiency.

Mr Lemberg’s career with McDonald’s began 27 hears ago when he bought his first franchise.

He now employed 680 staff across his eight restaurants at Acacia Ridge, Gatton, Gatton Central, Goodna, Indooroopilly Food Court, Redbank Plaza Exp and Plainland Rocklea.

McDonald’s Australia said its Goodna location was continuing to play an active role in the local community by providing jobs, training and development opportunities.

McDonald’s Goodna also supported local causes and groups.

They included Goodna Netball Association, Goodna and District Junior and Senior Rugby League Football Club and Redbank Bears Junior Rugby League.
