A BABY and toddler show will feature children from across the south-east as they help to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.

BABIES and toddlers will take centrestage in Fernvale next month.

A baby and toddler show will feature children from across the south-east taking part to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.

The event will be held on Saturday, September 24, and the children will be divided into four age groups: zero to six months, seven to 12 months, one to two years and three to five years.

Prizes will be awarded in categories such as brightest eyes, cutest smile and best dressed.

Lockyer-Brisbane Valley Leukaemia Branch president Gayle Daetz said she was hoping the day would become a fund-raising success story.

“The Leukaemia Foundation is such a wonderful organisation,” she said.

“We’re hoping this will support patients and their families in the Lockyer-Valley and Somerset regions.”

Ms Daetz has had first hand experience with the work the foundation does, having been helped while her son was fighting the disease in the late 1990s.

“My son was diagnosed with leukaemia in 1997 and the help the Leukaemia Foundation gave us was amazing.

“He passed away in 1999, but they’ve kept helping us out and I’ve been trying to give back to them.”

Along with the children’s prizes, an award will be given to the Most Gracious Grandma.

“I’ve already had men come up to me asking, ‘What about grandpa?’, so maybe next time we’ll have that too.”

The baby and toddler show will be held at the Fernvale Memorial Park from 9am.
