Police are waiting to speak with more witnesses to Tuesday night’s fatal shooting at North Booval, as they try to piece together the events that led to the death of one man and serious injuries to several others.
Carlo Stewart, 31, died after being shot twice, and three people have since been charged with murder, however, Ipswich detectives are still unravelling the events of that evening.
The Queensland Times can reveal a group of men is alleged to have attended the house on Baden Jones Way about 5pm on Tuesday, July 27 in relation to a dispute over two motorcycles.
It will be alleged that residents of the North Booval address and others then armed themselves, with a horrific and violent confrontation breaking out as young children played in a park across the road.
Witnesses told the Queensland Times earlier this week they saw a man lying motionless on the ground after the incident.
Shortly after the incident, two of the men involved allegedly swam about 60m across the Bremer River.
Investigators believe the men ran several kilometres up to a house in Tivoli where they sought help from a resident, who gave them shirts to wear.
The pair was arrested soon afterwards.
Two men and a teenage boy have since been charged with murder.
Tye Joshua Bickle, 28, from Logan Central, is charged with one count of murder and two counts of grievous bodily harm; Brayden Alan Wilson-Knight, 24, from North Booval, is charged with one count of murder and two counts of grievous bodily harm.
Their matters were heard briefly on Thursday, with both cases adjourned to August 18 and both men remanded in custody.
Lawyer Emily Fackender, representing Bickle, said he would not appear in person and he remained in police custody at hospital.
Ipswich detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
Detective Acting Inspector Heath McQueen said police were expecting to lay other charges against up to seven other people allegedly involved in the confrontation.
One of those involved remains in hospital after suffering serious injuries as a result of being struck with a bat or similar weapon.
His condition was last listed as having improved considerably. Detectives are hopeful of obtaining his version of events.
