New McDonald’s restaurant in South Ripley to create 120 new jobs once operational

Approval for a new Macca’s has been granted with a local licensee to run the outlet. Hundreds of jobs will be created during construction and operation.

A new McDonald’s restaurant has been approved for South Ripley with construction to start by the end of the year.

A new McDonald’s restaurant which will employ 120 staff when it opens has been approved for one of Ipswich’s fastest growing suburbs.

Construction on the outlet in South Ripley will start by the end of the year.

McDonald’s Australia head of property for Queensland Andrew Swaney said approval for the site at 775-785 Ripley Road has been granted.

“We have identified South Ripley as a new location for McDonald’s due to market demand and increasing customer activity in the area,” he said.

“The restaurant will be run by a local licensee, who will play an active role in the community through providing jobs, training and development opportunities for local employees.

“The new restaurant will inject over $5 million into the local economy and create 100 jobs during construction, as well as a further 120 jobs once operational.

“We look forward to providing essential jobs, economic investment and ongoing training and development opportunities to the local South Ripley community.”

The restaurant will include a dual-lane drive-through, McCafe, PlayPlace and McDelivery.

Approval was granted by Ipswich City Council for a service station and two fast food outlets at the 1.9 hectare site in 775-785 Ripley Road last year.

The fast food giant already has 15 stores in Ipswich, plus another three in the Lockyer Valley.

There are already McDonald’s restaurants in nearby Yamanto and Ripley.

The latest local Macca’s to open in the city was in the Eden’s Crossing estate in Redbank Plains in November last year.
