THE SEAT of Oxley was officially declared last week to incoming Oxley MP Milton Dick by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) at their offices in North Ipswich after the recent July 2 federal election.
This was the first seat in Queensland to be declared with Tony O'Connor, the divisional returning Officer from the AEC, on hand to make the announcement and formally make the result official with a 5.21% swing to the new member.
Mr Dick thanked the people of Oxley for their trust and support and said it was an enormous privilege to serve in the House of Representatives as the new member for Oxley.
"Since Federation there has been 1,134 people elected to the house and I'm honoured to take my place and represent the community I've worked and lived in for many years,” he said.
"I'm ready to hit the ground running and will be working hard every day to be an active member who listens and works closely with the community all throughout Oxley”
"I'd also like to acknowledge my predecessor Bernie Ripoll for his work and efforts over the previous 18 years in the seat and thank him for his contribution to the community”
The electorate office is available on 3879 6440 at the existing location of 255 Forest Lake Blvd, Forest Lake.
