More than 20,000 punters travelled from across the region to Ipswich for an epic day of racing at the Ipswich Turf Club for the Ipswich Cup.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the huge event is the showpiece of the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival calendar.
“Established in 1866, the race is rich in history, heritage and horses and Queensland’s biggest regional race day,” Cr Harding said.
“It is more than a horse race, it is the social day of the year for the Ipswich region and beyond.”
Ipswich Turf Club CEO Tim Dunn said the Ipswich Cup is the social event of the year, which brings friends and family together for a great day trackside.
“This year the TAB Ipswich Cup incorporates not only horse racing but the biggest local DJ Festival on the Infield featuring Mashd N Kutcher,” Mr Dunn said.
