GET your tuxedo out of the closet because the Marburg Show Ball is this weekend.

The annual Show Ball will be held on Saturday night at the Show Hall.

The headline attraction of the night will be the crowning of the Marburg Show Girl.

Competitor Rachel Dance said that besides duties at the Marburg Show, the night's winner would represent the town at the West Moreton-Brisbane Valley Regional Show Girl quest finals in Rosewood later in the year.

"The winner will go on to regionals, and the winner from there will go to the Ekka to represent the region against winners from around the state," she said.

"It's a great competition to encourage young people to get involved in the community and in agriculture in the area.

"There are a lot of questions on the night about agriculture and show in general."

Marburg local Ms Dance said she had previously represented the town at the regional finals.

As well as the Show Girl quest, the night will include the judging of the Show Queen, Princess, Matron and best-dressed man.

A Rural Ambassador will also be named from entrants who are both men and women aged 20 to 30.

Ms Dance said the Show Girl competitors would be asked a series of questions regarding their local knowledge and agriculture and questions about the show itself.

However, the judging of the contestants will not be the only attraction entertaining those at the ball. The Silvertones band will provide the evening's music.

The Silvertones were previously well received in town when they performed at Marburg for the New Year's Eve Ball.

The Show Girl competition is open to all unmarried women aged between 18 and 27.

Doors open to the ball at 7.30pm with judging to start at 8.15pm.

Entry to the Marburg Show Ball is $12 for adults, $6 for children under $18 and free for children under 12.

The Marburg Show Society celebrates its centenary agricultural show this year.

The district came together for its first show in 1912.

The Marburg Show will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28.
