Three in custody after man seriously injured in alleged machete attack in Ipswich

A man has been seriously injured in an alleged machete attack at One Mile on Saturday night. Police have arrested two men and a teenage boy.

Three people are in custody after a man was left seriously injured in an alleged machete attack in One Mile on Saturday night.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said four people attended a Shine Street residence when a physical disturbance occurred at 8.15pm.

Police will allege the group assaulted a 38-yeard-old man during the incident which allegedly involved a machete and baseball bats.

The man suffered serious damage to his wrist.

It will be alleged the man’s car, which contained his teenage son, then had its passenger window smashed before the vehicle’s keys were stolen.

The man and his son were able to run to safety at a nearby residence before the man was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital where he remains.

Police will allege the group then fled the scene in a Holden Commodore.

PolAir tracked the Commodore to outside a convenience store on Pine Mountain Road at Brassall and two people were found at 8.45pm.

A 29-year-old man was found with a cut to his chest and was treated by paramedics before being taken to the Ipswich watch house.

Additionally, a 38-year-old man was taken into custody where the car was located.

A 15-year-old boy was later arrested at an address in Leichardt at 11.15pm.

All three have been charged with grievous bodily harm, wilful damage and enter premises.

Both men will appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday.

The 15-year-old boy will appear in Ipswich Children’s Court.

Investigations are ongoing to identify others believed to be involved in the dispute.
