BOONAH'S local lord is trying to put his title to good use.

Julian Creighton, who bought a tiny package of land in Scotland to obtain the title "lord", is running for the Scenic Rim Regional Council.

Mr Creighton, a regular caller on ABC morning radio, said he had used the title as a way to promote Boonah and the wider Scenic Rim.

He announced he would be running for council in Division 6 of the Scenic Rim, encompassing the area north of Boonah.

Mr Creighton said he believed the Scenic Rim was becoming Beaudesert-oriented.

"We out here in Division 6 are becoming the country cousins," he said.

"Since the amalgamation of the Boonah and Beaudesert shire councils, I feel Division 6 hasn't received their fair share.

"In Boonah it's not too bad, but the further west you go the worse it gets.

"I've even had people say they didn't want to be part of the Scenic Rim anymore and wondered if they could become part of the Ipswich council.

"I think that shows how disenfranchised people are with the Scenic Rim council."

Mr Creighton, already a regular user of social media, has established a dedicated Twitter page @julian4council.

He said he hoped he could use the platform to spread his candidacy.

Despite having a media profile as Lord Julian of Boonah from his time on the radio, Mr Creighton said he hadn't been using the platform to gain a personal profile.

"I haven't gone out onto the radio to promote myself," he said.

"It's just good fun, and it gives me a chance to talk about this area here.

"It's just a magnificent place. We're so close to Brisbane, and yet it doesn't often get the kudos it probably deserves."

Mr Creighton said he was against further coal seam gas in the Scenic Rim and agreed with calls for a moratorium.

"I'm not against CSG as a whole, but I'm against it on good viable land, like my land and the rest of the area."
