Live taste of country living awaits city slicker children

A CHILDHOOD on the land has given children's entertainer Cilla Slack a true appreciation of what city kids miss out on.

The Gayndah-raised singer - who also spent three years living in Ipswich - has developed an online children's show and live performance built around bringing a bit of country life to children who only know the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle.

Ms Slack's show, Blue Gum Farm TV, will be coming to Ipswich for four special live shows during the school holidays.

The free shows will be staged at the Redbank Plains, Ipswich, and Redbank libraries, and the Riverview Neighbourhood House on January 13-14.

Ms Slack will be joined on stage by Ipswich performer Elizabeth Evans for the live series. The pair will sing about everything from ploughing the fields in Davey the Tractor, to cooking up a feast using produce from the farm.

"I thought I could give children a bit of an appreciation of how food is grown and the work that goes into it, presenting it to them in a way they can understand and enjoy," Ms Slack said.
