Ipswich residents told to shut windows after New Chum rubbish fire

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services have urged residents near a major rubbish fire on Redbank Plains Rd in New Chum to close their windows as they battle to bring the blaze under control.
A smoke warning has been issued for the Ipswich area near the dump, with seven firefighting vehicles on scene.
The fire appeared to have started in an area with nylon or rubber rubbish and caused thick smoke across the area and over the Cunningham Hwy and Blackstone.
QFES has asked residents who suffered from respiratory conditions to keep windows and doors shut and have medications close by in case of an emergency.
Bulldozers are on sight creating a fire break around the rubbish pile.
The fire is believed to be contained and there are no injuries.
Motorists are asked to drive with caution and to the conditions.
