Ipswich police have charged an Elanora man with armed robbery relating to alleged car theft at Fernvale

Police will allege a man pulled a gun on a resident who attempted to stop him from stealing a car from outside their home.

A man has been charged with armed robbery and eight other offences after he allegedly stole a woman’s car at gunpoint.

It is understood the car was parked outside a Fernvale house when when a man arrived about 10pm on June 25.

A Queensland Police spokesman told the Queensland Times it would be alleged the alleged offender had previously obtained a set of keys to the car.

He confirmed the man had pulled a gun when confronted by one of the residents.

Police caught up with the stolen car about half an hour later, after spotting it on the Cunningham Hwy.

The vehicle crashed and rolled at Purga after police deployed road spikes.

Police confirmed a 30-year-old Elanora man was charged with armed robbery, wilful damage, receiving tainted property, burglary, commit and indictable offence, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, breach of bail and two counts of failing to appear.

He remains in custody and is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on July 21.
