Look at the swimming talent which produced some stunning results for Ipswich Grammar Swim Club at the recent Queensland Short Course Swimming Championships.

The Ipswich Grammar Swimming Club showcased an exceptional display of talent and dedication at the recently concluded Queensland Short Course Swimming Championships.
In a meet that is the pinnacle of the state’s competitive swimming scene, the club’s remarkable achievements saw 28 swimmers from IGS Swimming Club, ranging in age from 11 to 38 years, compete across an impressive 67 events.
As a team, the club’s swimmers finished 19th overall after claiming five gold medals, five silver medals and five bronze medals.
Importantly, 30 swimmers achieved top 10 finishes and 14 top 20 finishes, while every member of the club managed to achieve personal best performances.
Leading the charge was the remarkable 12-year-old Zacharias Carvolth, who secured an impressive Queensland Champion title in four events - 100m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke, 400m Individual Medley, and 200m Individual Medley.
Carvolth’s prowess extended to podium finishes in four additional events, earning second place in the 100m Individual Medley, 50m Freestyle, and 200m Breaststroke, as well as a commendable third place in the 400m Freestyle.
His mastery also translated to a top-ten finish in the 50m Backstroke, in fourth-place position Lachlan Cameron, 12, demonstrated his remarkable skill by securing the Queensland Champion title in the 200m Breaststroke event.
Cameron’s outstanding performance continued as he garnered silver medals in the 100m Freestyle and 200m Individual Medley, along with a well-deserved bronze in the 100m Individual Medley.
His versatility and dedication were evident with three additional top 10 finishes in the 50m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, and 50m Breaststroke.
Another standout performer, 12-year-old Summer Groves, clinched a bronze medal in the fiercely competitive 50m Freestyle.
Groves’s excellence extended to three top-10 finishes in the 100m Individual Medley, 100m Freestyle, and 50m Breaststroke events.
William Taione, aged 12, contributed to the club’s medal tally by securing a bronze medal in the intense 50m Breaststroke event, and his talents were further validated by a top 10 finish in the 100m Breaststroke.
Meanwhile, 11-year-old Sieanna Teevan showcased her promise by securing a bronze medal in the 100m Backstroke, also achieving top 10 finishes in the 50m Backstroke and 50m Freestyle events.
In the Opens category, Jayden Allum exhibited exceptional talent with an outstanding accomplishment of six top-10 finishes, highlighting the depth of the club’s skills across all levels.
Further adding to the club’s acclaim were notable top 10 finishers including Boston Willcox, Liam Kim, Hamish Harty, Charlie Morony, Frederick Morony, and Lily Titmarsh, contributing to Ipswich Grammar Swimming Club’s impressive 19th finish in the overall points tally.
The club’s extraordinary performance owes its success to the strong leadership of head coach Tom Harris, who expressed immense pride in witnessing the continuous and substantial improvement across all levels.
“The installation of the new swim wall allowing us to offer simultaneous Short Course and Long Course training has undoubtedly assisted our swimmers in their preparation for this event,” said Harris.
“We are proud to be the only facility in Ipswich to offer this and are grateful to our Ipswich Grammar Swimming Club community and Ipswich Grammar School for their continued investment in the development of our young swimmers” he said.
With the short course season coming to a close, Ipswich Grammar Swimming Club eagerly anticipates the recommencement of Club Nights for a third season.
Harris said the club nights “provide swimmers of all levels, from novices to national-level athletes, with an opportunity to gain race experience and have fun in a relaxed family-oriented environment each Tuesday night’’.
