After five and a half years of incredible dining, Dovetails is set to close its doors for good on December 25.

The iconic venue, located in the historic 88 Limestone precinct in the heart of Ipswich, addressed its dedicated customers on Facebook on Wednesday.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of multi-award-winning Dovetails Restaurant,” the post read.

“We would like to thank the greater Ipswich community for their support over the past 5 ½ years, and personally thank each guest who enjoyed a delicious meal, a beautiful wine or celebrated a special moment with us.”

The hospitality industry was smashed by lockdown after lockdown and the enforcement of intense restrictions throughout the peak of the coronavirus crisis.

The post garnered hundreds of reactions from devastated customers, though they have been reassured that this is not the end of the road for the precinct, with Pumpyard Bar and 4 Hearts Brewing still going strong.
